Didn't sign up? You're up a creek without a paddle
If you were thinking of participating in this year's Paddle for the Border - a 7.5-mile journey along the Intracoastal Waterway from Chesapeake to Fort Mill, N.C. - you're out of luck. Like last year's event, the 2005 aquatic run filled up faster than a leaky canoe.
"We got flooded with e-mails the first week in January," said Cyndy Perkins, public information coordinator for the sponsoring Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Department, in a city news release. "We had to close registration before the deadline date."
