If it were up to her doctors, Mounds View Alpine skier Elena Dorr would just be returning to the hill about now.
Diagnosed with mononucleosis in November, Dorr, a senior, persevered through a season of fatigue. She finished first or second in all but two of the Mustangs' races this season and will make her debut at the state meet Thursday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, Minn.
First-year coach Erik Christenson thought his co-captain would be lost for the season. But Dorr came to him just before the first race and vowed to be in the lineup.
