Article: Downhill (or cross country) from here; The 2005 Minnesota state boys' and girls' Alpine and Nordic skiing championships are being held this week in Biwabik, Minn. The Alpine championships are Thursday with the Nordic championships being decided Friday. A host of west-metro teams and individuals wil be represented at Giants Ridge. Two years ago, twins Laura and Annie Massie of the Blake School made it to state as sophomores with their older brother Robby going as a senior. In this year's Alpine field, there's another Massie show of force as Laura and Annie, now seniors, return with younger brother Marc making the field with the boys' team as an eighth-grader.
Armstrong junior Ross Werner leads a trio of Falcons skiers at the state meet. Werner was third in all three events in the Section 5 meet, trailing only St. Louis Park standouts Jesse Lang and Mike Mommsen, who finished first and second, respectively.
