With apologies to Johnny Carson, late-night television has never been better than it is now.
Carson churned out decent mainstream fare for 30 years, but it was an uncomplicated dish, comfort food that was never too spicy, never too adventurous, never that memorable, not unlike a midnight run to Taco Bell.
Insomniacs today face a smorgasbord. There are the conventional cooks: David Letterman, Craig Ferguson, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien (although I'm not sure there's anything pedestrian about the newest "Late Night" character, Kermit the Vomiting Frog).
