In his new role as president and CEO of Fifth Third Bank's operations in Cincinnati, Bob Sullivan finds himself in circumstances quite different from when he helped found Capital Bank in Toledo in 1988.
Back then, he was heading a start-up that had no market share, no customers, no name recognition -- and nowhere to go but up. "When you start from zero, an increase in market share is much easier to come by," he said.
That's hardly the case with Fifth Third in Cincinnati. Here, he's in charge of the undisputed market share leader, with all the expectations that entails.
