May 5--Bi-Lo is leaving Knoxville.
The supermarket's South Carolina-based parent company, Bi-Lo LLC, is selling 113 stores -- including nine in the Knoxville area -- in order to focus on cities where it believes it can be the No. 1 or No. 2 grocer.
Eight area stores will be purchased by Southern Family Markets Acquisition LLC, which is buying a total of 104 stores operated by Bi-Lo in six Southern states. Bi-Lo will seek another buyer for its ninth area store, in Halls.
