Trimethylpyridine is mainly used in pesticide, pharmaceutical, feed additive and flavor sectors. China has two major production units today. One is the unit of 11 000 t/a pyridine and downstream products jointly constructed by Reilly of the United States and Nantong Acetic Acid Chemical Plant. The capacity of trimethylpyridine in the unit is 3 000 t/a. The other is the 8 000 t/a unit of pyridine and downstream products in Nanjing Redsun Group. The capacity of trimethylpyridine in the unit is 1 000-2 000 t/a. Besides, there are also some small units with low output and poor product quality.
