St. Lawrence County in northern New York State is well known for its many mineral collecting localities. Some of these are mines, such as the Rossie lead mines (Robinson et al. 2001) and the Zinc Corporation of America mines at Talcville, Pierrepont, and Balmat (Chamberlain 1996), but most are small, isolated exposures that have only been exploited for mineral specimens.
