May 5--Orangeburg's Chestnut Street Bi-Lo announced Wednesday it will remain open as part of the company's long-range strategy to improve operations.
The parent company of Bi-Lo groceries, Bi-Lo LLC, Wednesday said it plans to sell or close 116 stores throughout the Southeast -- but bolster services in South Carolina -- as part of a company-wide restructuring plan.
"Orangeburg is part of the core group of Bi-Lo stores," said Jeff Hunter, co-service manager at the Orangeburg Bi-Lo on Chestnut Street. "We will be staying. Bi-Lo has always been happy in Orangeburg."
