Having worked in the field with contractors for the past 27 years and having performed more than 50,000 combustion tests on equipment, especially carbon monoxide, I am disappointed to see such misinformation printed in a trade publication in the 21st century ("Do Gas Furnaces Create A Significant Carbon Monoxide Threat?" by Jim Wheeler, SUPPLY HOUSE TIMES, February 2005, page 77). The following are nine statements with which I disagree wholeheartedly, along with my explanation:
1 "80+ & 90+ efficient furnaces that are working correctly do not produce any carbon monoxide."
Wrong: Usually all combustion devices produce some levels of carbon monoxide, ...
