Congressman Henry Hyde announced Monday that he won't seek another term, a decision that ends the career of a conservative icon and eloquent statesman forever intertwined with the failed impeachment of President Clinton.
The 81-year-old Republican from Wood Dale cited physical limitations stemming from back surgery two years ago and a desire to go out on his own terms rather than risk defeat next year as the primary reasons for making his 16th term his last.
