Sharing the spotlight with a comedian isn't part of a research scientist's usual daily routine.
But when the comedian is Jerry Lewis _ head cheerleader for muscular dystrophy research _ and the researcher is the University of Michigan's Dr. Jeffrey Chamberlain, who just made a big step toward finding a cure for the disease, the combination doesn't seem so odd.
Chamberlain appeared with Lewis at a news conference in Las Vegas Wednesday to announce that he had cured a mouse version of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common childhood form of the fatal disease.
