Doctors often tell women with fibroid tumors of the uterus that they must not delay surgery for fear of severe complications, but a new study shows that the advice is unfounded. According to conventional medical wisdom, fibroids grow larger with time, and a hysterectomy performed when the tumors are relatively small will result in fewer postoperative complications.
