For those of us who like to travel, part of the thrill is adjusting to new environments and strange situations that require us to abandon habits and routines. The experience can be rewarding and invigorating, but it can also cause anxiety. This disquiet was of special interest to the Surrealists, who, in the 1920s, attempted to channel it as raw, creative energy.
