SAN JOSE, Calif.--Jul. 21--Martin Manley, a San Francisco consultant to business and labor groups and one-time machinist in San Jose, has been nominated to serve as the assistant secretary for the Office of the American Workplace, a new post in the U.S. Labor Department.
The new office will help equip business to make the best use of the know- how and commitment of U.S. workers, encourage the development of "high- performance" work organizations and promote a new cooperation between labor and management, Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich said in announcing the nomination Tuesday.
