In her three seasons as coach of the North Metro girls' rugby team, Blaire Zummak has endured having just enough players to field a team of 15 and win-loss records heavy on the latter.
A 1-4 record means a break from the norm isn't likely this spring, but the Wolves appear to be building toward success in 2006. Zummak, a member of the Minnesota Valkyries women's rugby team, is learning to coach the game as well as she plays, and four ninth-graders from Irondale High School are paying dividends on and off the field.
