Lexicon Genetics Incorporated announced today the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 6,776,988 (the "988 patent") entitled "Vectors for gene mutagenesis and gene discovery." The 988 patent is Lexicon's seventh related to its proprietary gene trapping technology.
The 988 patent covers cells that have been genetically engineered using Lexicon's third-generation gene trapping constructs. The newly-issued patent covers the substantial majority of the more than 270,000 embryonic stem cell clones present in Lexicon's OmniBank(R) library and identified by DNA sequence in Lexicon's OmniBank database.
