I have just returned from bad hair hell.
In the last week I have strolled the sand of Miami's South Beach _ where no one has any flab _ and driven the roads of Tupelo, Miss. in both cities the temperature was hot, the humidity was high and my hair was always flat.
In the past, I have loudly bemoaned the fact that, thanks to humidity, my hair went straight when I wanted it to curl. And how, just to be ornery, it went curly when I wanted it to be straight.
But that was then _ maybe four months ago. Today, call me mature. Or consider me resigned. Either way, I've decided that I have more important battles than the one against humidity.
