The Philadelphia Museum of Art is exhibiting Irving Penn's latest works from 10 July to 28 November this year. Born in the United States in 1917, Irving Penn began his career working for Vogue magazine in 1943 and subsequently became one of the most fashionable photographers of the post-war period.
The exhibition entitled "Underfoot: Photographs by Irving Penn" presents one of the latest facets of his work: a set of thirty photos of chewing gum crushed into the pavements of New York that look like abstract or organic forms under the artist's camera lens.
