There is growing interest in the potential changes to some critical illness definitions. Although at first glance the changes may seem negative, they will help keep the critical illness market sustainable.

Advances in medical science mean some critical illnesses are now diagnosed earlier and treated more effectively than before. Some have suggested this will result in windfall payments. Surely nobody wants to suffer a critical illness just to get the money. A definition of windfall I heard recently was: "Any illness that is absolutely nothing to worry about, provided it happens to someone else".
