Chancellor Gordon Brown doubled the starting threshold for Stamp Duty to #120,000 from #60,000 in the Budget last week - a victory for Mortgage Strategy.

MS has been campaigning since last November for the threshold to be raised and delivered its Step Up Stamp Duty petition to 11 Downing Street in the run-up to the Budget.

Mike Perry, associate director of sales and marketing at Amber Homeloans, says: "I was surprised the lobbying on Stamp Duty paid off. It shows someone is listening to lobbyists, including MS' successful campaign."
