Defeat of Prop. 156 won't cause near-term delays
Despite the defeat of the $1 billion rail bond measure Proposition 156 and the subdued reception surrounding the debut of the commuter train Metrolink, ambitious rail projects for the Inland Empire are chugging along pretty much on track.
Most of the rail projects in the Inland Empire are not affected by the failure of Prop. 156 because much of the railroad rights-of-way had already been purchased amid last summer's haggling over rights to use 300 miles of track owned by Santa Fe Railway Co.
By next spring, commuters in the Inland Empire will have the chance to ride the rails to L.A. on tracks paralleling ...
