May 14--PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- Passenger traffic at the Panama City-Bay County International Airport declined by more than 8 percent in April and is down by 2.38 percent for the year compared to 2004, according to the airport's monthly activity report.

At Friday's regular Airport Authority meeting, airport Executive Director Randy Curtis said it would be pure speculation as to what accounted for the decline.

"One of the things I see is that we don't have the number of hotel rooms available this year due to some of the smaller hotels closing," Curtis said after the meeting.
