A Los Angeles jury decided Tuesday that Honeywell Inc. must pay Litton Industries a record-setting $1.2 billion for infringing a Litton patent involving an aircraft guidance system. 
Honeywell immediately protested that the jury's action was ``outrageous'' and vowed to appeal if the federal judge in the case doesn't set aside the award first. It noted that further important rulings in the case are expected in the coming weeks.
