FULLERTON, Calif. _ With bowed heads and faces streaked with tears, a transient couple were charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter in the death of their 4-month-old son _ who bled to death after being repeatedly bitten by the family's pet rat.
Steven J. Giguere Sr., 27, and his wife, Kathyleen, 30, held hands and sobbed while shackled in a courtroom holding cell in Fullerton. They were ordered held on $100,000 bail.
Both appeared dirty and unkempt.
The arraignment of the Anaheim couple, who lived in squalor in a dilapidated 1971 station wagon with their 3{-year-old daughter and infant son, Steven Jr., was postponed until Sept. 7.
