Management, unions at Czech Railways sign collective agreement

Prague. May 16 INTERFAX EUROPE - Management and trade union representatives at national railway operator Ceske drahy (CD) on Monday signed a collective agreement for 2005 after six months of negotiations, CD spokesman Petr Stahlavsky told Interfax.

The mediator in the dispute over a collective agreement submitted a compromise proposal, which was finally approved by management and all six of CD's unions.

Under the collective agreement, wages at CD should grow by 5 % on average this year, says Stahlavsky. In 2004, the average monthly wage at CD stood at CZK 18,340.
