May 16--HIGH POINT -- Composer. Musician. Performer. Legend. This is John Coltrane. Now, decades after his death, High Point community partners have embarked on an effort to honor one of the city's most revered citizens.
The jazz great, who was born in Hamlet but moved to High Point with his family when he was an infant, may not be a household name in many homes in the Triad.
But internationally, his contributions to the jazz world have earned him recognition as an icon.
Local efforts to highlight those contributions and draw interest in the man behind the music have resulted in a number of initiatives ...
