Fountain City, Wis., man reported killed in Iraq.(NEWS)

An Army sergeant from Fountain City, Wis., was killed in Iraq on Monday after a car exploded nearby. Sgt. Andrew Bossert, 24, had been in Iraq since August, his mother, Diane Bossert, said late Tuesday. She was told of her son's death when two men from the Army showed up at her door about 7 a.m. Tuesday.

"All we know is that he was at a checkpoint, a car went through and it blew up," his mother said. "That's all we have at this point."

Bossert joined the Army after graduating in 1999 from Cochrane-Fountain City High School. Fountain City is north of Winona, just across the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. He was assigned to an ...
