Apple Computer Inc. has launched die first product based on its Newton technology - the Newton MessagePad began shipping on August 2. Apple Chairmnan John Sculley says Newton will be "the defining technology of the digital age," a focal point for the convergence of computers, communications and consumer electronics.
"Communications is a key component of this new emerging industry," Sculley says, and the MessagePad demonstrates how this capability can be powerfully and intuitively built into a handheld device. I look forward to a full lineup of products and services based on Newton Intelligence, not just from Apple, but from creative companies around the world."
