Following the recent slaughter of 41 wild horses, an amendment to end such slaughter and reinstall the protections of the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act, passed in 1971, comes up for a vote on Thursday. I called U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin's office to ask her to vote yes on the Rahall-Whitfield Amendment to stop the slaughter of wild horses and burros. Her phone representative said that, while Baldwin is sympathetic to animal rights, she didn't know what her position was on this issue.
