WASHINGTON--A representative of President-elect Clinton praised a decision by the Health Insurance Association of America to support a federal mandate that employers offer a basic package of health benefits.
The announcement is encouraging since it shows that HIAA recognizes the need for cost containment and universal access, which are two major components of the president-elect's health care reform agenda, said Marla Romash, a representative of the Clinton transition team.
In addition, she said, the announcement is commendable because it shows a desire to be part of the health care reform process.
