May 20--TUCSON -- Jane Amari will resign by the end of August as editor and publisher of the Arizona Daily Star to start a newspaper consulting business. Amari, whose tenure at the Star began in November 1999, has spent 38 years in the newspaper business. She will remain in Tucson and operate a new consulting firm -- Ivert Management Services -- from an office in her home, she said.
Amari's replacement has yet to be named, said Dan Hayes, director of communications for Iowa-based Lee Enterprises Inc., which will officially become the Star's parent company after a vote by Pulitzer Inc. shareholders on June 3. "We're going to move with all deliberate speed to get a ...
