ST. LOUIS _ The rap on Cornell Haynes Jr., better known as hip-hop star Nelly, is that his Vokal clothing line may violate a trademark held by other musicians.
Two Florida men, who put out two singles in the 1990s under the name Vokal, claim that Nelly began using the name Vokal after one of their songs became a modest hit. Last year, they filed suit against Nelly in Florida seeking damages for trademark infringement.
Nelly, of St. Louis, has denied the claims. His lawyers have filed documents in court asserting that the men in Florida cannot bring a claim against Nelly's Vokal Clothing Co. LLC because they never used the ...
