CHICAGO _ At 1:20 p.m., the first pitch was thrown.
By 1:30, two guys had been hit by pitches.
One more and Wrigleyville was going to get ugly. A referee was going to be necessary more than an umpire for Game 1 of this White Sox-Cubs rumble. Don King would have hustled out in a limo to promote Game 2.
A tone was set for a South Side-vs.-North Side turf war worthy of Al Capone, but luckily, nothing more came of it. The Sox hit hard and fast Friday and the Cubs went quietly, 5-1.
The winners didn't even need to bring in their bullpen ace in the hole, Dustin Hermanson. This was a shame for any Sox fans among ...
