Financial institutions need to have distinctive brands. It is especially beneficial for Australian financial services groups that offer services rather than products to have memorable trademarks. Slogans, logos, packaging and images can all be viewed as trademarks. Registration of trademarks prevents similar marks from being used in a manner that could mislead or deceive.
