NEW YORK, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission to trade options on Morgan Stanley's Cyclical and Consumer Indexes (ticker symbols: "CYC" and "CMR"), widely regarded as barometers of U.S. economic activity.  Options trading will be launched on the Indexes on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993. 
Developed by Morgan Stanley in 1992, the indexes are each comprised of 30 blue-chip stocks and considered representative of two distinct segments of the U.S. stock market.  Together, they are designed to reflect shifts in investor sentiment in relation to changing economic cycles.
