As neighborhood activists complain the city is awash in trash, one city councilor wants the Menino administration to put some teeth into its code enforcement efforts so litterbugs stop getting off virtually scot-free.
"When they call the city all the city can do is slap a worthless green ticket on their door," City Councilor Michael Ross said. "People get angry."
The city's Inspectional Services Division expects to dish out 32,000 green code violation tickets by year's end for everything from $15 for not shoveling a sidewalk to $1,000 for illegal dumping.
