May 21--Even the ethanol industry didn't realize how much support South Dakotans have for the alternative fuel.

That was the word from various ethanol supporters Friday as they toured the state, touting the results of a scientific study that shows 96 percent of state residents believe the fuel is valuable to the state's economy.

The poll was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies of Washington, D.C.

On May 2 and 3, 500 registered voters from across South Dakota were polled via telephone.
