May 23--TOKYO -- Prosecutors on Monday searched eight heavy machinery companies suspected of rigging bids for steel bridge projects via two industry associations and were likely to search all 47 companies involved, sources said.
The Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office launched a major investigation into the "dango" bid-rigging after criminal complaints against the companies were filed by the Fair Trade Commission against the companies on Monday morning on suspicion of violating of the Antimonopoly Law.
