I hate to sound like a person who yells before she is hit, but I've decided, without ever seeing it, not to buy Mortal Kombat.
This is the new home video game that takes video violence to alarmingly realistic heights. Before Sept. 15, it was available only in coin-operated video-arcade format, where it had kids lined up waiting their turns to play.
The game has the usual street-brawling scenario, requiring the person with the joy stick to jump, kick, run, punch, smack, pummel, stomp and otherwise brutalize an electronic opponent. But Mortal Kombat goes a step further.
In this game, when one fighter defeats another, the words ``Finish Him!'' flash on the screen.
