GYPSUM -- All state championship victories are notable in some way. Ashley Tait's win in the Class 4A girls golf state tournament Tuesday, though, sets a standard for significance.
Tait shot a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday at Cotton Ranch Golf Club, the most difficult course in the 16-year history of the state tournament. That gave her a two-day score of 3-under 141. No other golfer in the 71-player field was closer than two shots of an even-par round.
