SCOTLAND is being overrun by a plague of dirty rats, new figures revealed yesterday.
The number of disease-ridden brown rats north of the Border rose by 15 per cent last year - seven times higher than the UK average.
Vermin have surged in Scotland every year since 1999 and the cost of beating the menace which carry disease has reached record levels.
