With some 30,000 species of herbal plants, Indonesia ranks second behind Brazil as a producer of herbal plants, according to Peter Saerang, chairman of the Indonesian Herbal Medicine Businessmen Association and president director of PT Nyonya Meneer.
However, he took aim at the country's government for not assisting in the development of the industry, telling the Antara News Service that only about 260 species have been used for producing herbal medicine.
