Convinced that any health care reform plan will sharpen the focus on the merits of managed care, the nation's heavyweight insurers--Aetna. Travelers, Prudential and Cigna, among them--continue to enhance their managed care networks.
The changes, which have been going on for more than a decade, range from improving customer service to rewarding those physicians who achieve good performance in both cost and quality of care which, taken together, can often provide the bulwark to a successful managed care plan, sources say.
