Millions of pounds could have been saved if City Hall had been chosen as the home of the National Assembly, an Echo investigation has revealed.
The historic Cardiff landmark was snubbed in favour of building a new debating chamber in Cardiff Bay by politicians who claimed it would mean less money being spent.
But the Echo has discovered the pounds 70m estimated final price tag for the new building is more than double what it would have cost to renovate City Hall.
