If you are a history buff or fan of the outdoors, you probably have reason to thank the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The efforts of the members of the Corps--those men largely responsible for the conservation of America's natural and historical resources--still are visible today.
For instance, if you are a hiker, you should know that the CCC built more than 13,000 miles of hiking trails. Are you interested in history? If so, you should know that the Corps restored more than 4,000 historic buildings in the United States. And if you enjoy talking to your friends on the phone, then you can appreciate the 89,000 miles of telephone line strung by the CCC.
