Variable data printing (VDP) is a service that small commercial and quick printers are beginning to provide for customers. It might be as simple as offering mail merge, or it could be as sophisticated as providing dynamic web-to-print services. Some quick printers are taking advantage of the variable data software that is included in many of the RIPs sold to interface with digital printers. Others are buying specialized software programs to handle larger data files. Whatever the method, quick printers are moving into a digital area once controlled by larger commercial printers.
