Once the bread and butter of wireless carriers, local calling plans are now often afforded left-over status by an industry that is rapidly growing out its networks and seeing an increasing number of customers selecting nationwide calling plans. Those nationwide plans often trade incremental value for greater cost certainty of no roaming or long-distance charges.
