When interviewed in mid-December 2004, Michael E. Wilens was president and CEO of Thomson West. On Jan. 1, 2005, he was promoted to president and CEO of North American Legal, reporting to Brian H. Hall, president and CEO of Thomson Legal & Regulatory, headquartered in Eagan, Minn.
Thomson West provides integrated information solutions to the U.S. legal market. It is a business within The Thomson Corp. and was formed when West Publishing and Thomson Legal Publishing merged in June 1996. Wilens talked with me about Thomson's single technology platform, West's plans for 2005, the recent reorganization within Thomson Legal, and trends in the industry.
