It's haying time in Wisconsin - the first big harvest season of the year.
A drive through rural lands will bring sights of acre upon acre of green hay neatly laid in windrows or being chopped and blown into chopper boxes for transport to storage in silos, bags or bunkers.
The saying, "if corn is king, alfalfa is queen," is often repeated in farm circles. Alfalfa is what makes milk and provides the basic food for the dairy cows of the nation. And the better the quality of the feed that comes out of storage, the more milk comes out of the cow.
